INNOVATION AND EXCELLENCE
Fully focused on the design, production, and sale of components, systems, and modules for automobiles and trucks, both on the original equipment market and the aftermarket, Valeo is an independent and international industrial group. It is one of the world’s leading automotive suppliers.
Valeo and French rally driver Luc Alphand have signed a partnership agreement for the Cross Country Rally World Cup and the Le Mans Endurance Series in 2006, 2007 and 2008. By joining forces with Alphand, the Group is eager to develop brand awareness and to affirm its image as an innovative corporation ready to take on major challenges.
Valeo green technologies' experience of automotive systems and electronics proved invaluable during the development of the Racing Lancer's cooling system, which uses the UltimateCooling architecture. Valeo's input also concerned the LED daytime running lights, rear lights and roof-mounted stop light which are more efficient since producing less heat, consume significantly less energy - and therefore less fuel - and are longer lasting.
First XLED™ Headlamps in racing vehicle
For the 2007 Rally season, Valeo is equipping the new Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution MPR13 with its innovative lighting system: front lighting with XLED™ headlamps. The concept had been presented at IAA Frankfurt motor show in September 2005 for the first time. It is a hybrid headlamp combining both Xenon and LED (Light Emitted Diode) as light source for maximum efficiency and performance.
The Xenon bi-function technology is a single module for low and high beam function. This system provides highly improved forward visibility compared to conventional halogen systems (up to 90%). Xenon delivers very bright and homogeneous illumination, going wider and further ahead with equivalent headlamp size. While reducing energy consumption, the Xenon technology improves road safety and drivers comfort.
LEDs are used here for the Daytime Running Lamp function (DRL). This function, which improves vehicle visibility during the day, is mandatory in race conditions. Beside high reliability and a very long lifetime (superior to vehicle lifetime), LEDs are characterized by low energy consumption, leading to higher fuel efficiency and environment protection.
